As a methyl acrylate-based polymeric processing aid, it effectively promotes low-temperature melting and uniform plasticization of PVC compounds, enhances melt strength and elasticity, and significantly improves foam structure and surface quality. This makes K400 an essential additive for manufacturers producing high-quality foam boards, construction panels, door boards, and other foamed PVC/WPC profiles.

2. Product Principle:
K400 functions as a high-molecular-weight acrylic copolymer that interpenetrates and entangles with PVC molecular chains during processing. This interaction enhances melt cohesion and homogeneity, while the micro-crosslinking effect significantly increases melt strength and elongation. By improving the rheological properties of the PVC melt, K400 stabilizes the foaming process—it reinforces the cell walls during bubble expansion, preventing cell coalescence or collapse, and promotes the formation of a uniform, fine-cell structure. The result is a low-density foam (≥0.3 g/cm³) with excellent mechanical integrity and dimensional stability.

3. Performance Characteristics:
K400 delivers outstanding processing performance with a plasticizing time of just 29 seconds, enabling rapid fusion and early melt homogenization. The torque values (min. 10.3 NM, max. 53.7 NM, balanced 24.9) indicate excellent processing stability and reduced melt pulsation. The high viscosity (14 ±0.5) ensures superior melt strength and elasticity, preventing cell rupture and ensuring uniform foam structure. The low volatile content (Vdaf ≤1%) guarantees clean processing with minimal emissions, while the methyl acrylate composition provides excellent compatibility with PVC resins and other processing additives.

4. Usage and Dosage:
Recommended addition level is 5–11% based on total PVC formulation weight. For standard foam board applications requiring moderate density and good surface quality, dosages of 6–8% are typically recommended. For high-quality furniture boards and advertising boards demanding excellent surface gloss and uniform foam structure, dosages toward 8–11% deliver optimal results. Systematic trials should be conducted to optimize dosage for specific equipment, processing conditions, and target foam density requirements.
