Environmentally Friendly Oxidized Polyethylene Wax (OPE Wax)

A low molecular weight polar wax prepared from polyethylene via thermal cracking and air/catalytic oxidation, with polar functional groups such as carboxyl (-COOH), hydroxyl (-OH) and carbonyl (C=O) introduced into the molecular chain.

 

Description

OPE WAX has the functions of external lubrication and internal lubrication, and it has the ability of resisting chemical products and excellent electrical properties. It can improve the appearance of finished products. It is an ideal product to replace Montan wax, sichuan wax, liquid paraffin, microcrystalline paraffin, natural paraffin, polyethylene wax, etc.

Note: Store in cool, dry warehouse, avoid rain, moisture. When stored, it must be away from fire and heat sources, avoid exposure to sunlight, and prohibit direct contact with acid and alkali or mixing.

Advantages

1.Polarity and Compatibility

Greatly improve compatibility with polar systems such as PVC, EVA, fillers and pigments, and solve the problem of easy migration and precipitation of ordinary polyethylene wax. Emulsifiable and dispersible in aqueous systems, suitable for environmentally friendly water-based coatings and inks.

2.Dual Internal and External Lubrication

Internal lubrication: Penetrates polymer chains when resin melts, reducing viscosity and flow resistance, accelerating plasticization, cutting processing torque and energy use — ideal for high-filled, high-viscosity formulations.

External lubrication: Forms a lubricating film between melt and equipment metal surfaces, improving demolding, preventing sticking and trailing, boosting product surface gloss and smoothness, and reducing post-processing grinding/polishing.

3.Thermal Stability and Processability

OPE WAX exhibits excellent thermal oxidation stability with extremely low volatility at high processing temperatures (180–220℃), avoiding decomposition into odorous or small molecular substances that could affect product performance and the environment. Its low viscosity and high softening point allow it to maintain good lubrication at high temperatures without compromising product rigidity and dimensional stability, making it ideal for high-temperature extrusion of pipes and profiles.

4.Filler and Pigment Dispersion and Coupling Effect

The polar structure enables OPE WAX to effectively wet the surface of inorganic fillers and pigments (carbon black, titanium dioxide, calcium carbonate, etc.), reducing interparticle agglomeration, improving dispersion uniformity, and avoiding color spots, color differences, and reduced mechanical properties. Additionally, its molecular chain can bond with both inorganic fillers and organic resins, acting as a coupling agent to enhance interfacial bonding, thereby improving product tensile strength, impact resistance, and weatherability.

5.Chemical Stability and Eco-Friendly Properties

Non-toxic, good chemical corrosion resistance, excellent moisture resistance and electrical insulation. High cost performance, can replace traditional additives such as montan wax, paraffin wax and ordinary polyethylene wax.

Applications

1.Plastic processing

Widely applied in the production and processing of various PVC plastic products such as pipes, profiles, sheets, films and cable compounds, acting as a high-efficiency internal and external lubricant. It can form a favorable synergistic effect with calcium-zinc stabilizers, effectively reduce the melt viscosity of the resin system, improve the overall processing fluidity and moldability of materials, and significantly enhance the surface gloss, smoothness and fineness of the final plastic products, presenting a uniform and smooth high-quality effect on the product surface.

2.Color and filled masterbatches

Used as pigment/filler dispersant and carrier to improve coloring uniformity and masterbatch processability.

3.Engineering plastics

In the processing of engineering plastics such as PA/PC/ABS, it is used as high-temperature lubricant and glass fiber dispersant to reduce product warpage and improve surface smoothness.

4.Coatings and Inks (Water-based/Solvent-based)

Emulsified and dispersed in water-based coatings/inks as slip and anti-scratch agent, enhances film wear resistance and anti-blocking property, optimizes hand feel; improves leveling in solvent-based systems, prevents pigment sedimentation, and boosts printing adaptability and surface gloss.

5.Rubber processing

Additive for mixing and extrusion of natural/synthetic rubber (EVA/TPR/TPE), acts as processing lubricant and release agent, reduces mixing torque, improves rubber fluidity, prevents roller/mold sticking, and enhances surface smoothness of rubber products.
