DN-4 is an ultra-fine AC foaming agent with a particle size of 4 μm, specifically engineered for PVC, EVA, and other plastic foaming applications. Its extremely fine powder ensures rapid dispersion and uniform cell nucleation, resulting in exceptional foam quality and density reduction. This high-performance foaming agent has become the preferred choice for manufacturers seeking premium foam structures in demanding applications.
Product Principle:
As a pure azodicarbonamide (AC) foaming agent, DN 4 decomposes exothermically at 205°C, releasing nitrogen, carbon monoxide, and carbon dioxide to form uniform bubbles in the polymer melt. With an ultra fine particle size of 4 μm, it absorbs heat quickly and decomposes steadily, supporting fine and uniform cell nucleation. Its narrow particle size distribution avoids agglomerates, prevents over foaming and surface defects, and ensures consistent cell structure without compromising mechanical properties.
Performance Characteristics:
DN-4 is a high-purity AC foaming agent with 99% active content and a gas yield of 215–220 L/kg, enabling efficient density reduction and stable decomposition. Its 4 μm ultrafine particles are 5–10 times smaller than standard grades, offering excellent dispersion in high-viscosity and filled systems. With a neutral pH of 7.5–8.0, it is compatible with other additives and ensures processing stability. It decomposes at 205°C for safe, efficient foaming, while high purity reduces residues and avoids negative impacts on appearance and performance.

1. Ultra-Fine Particle Size for Superior Dispersion:
At 4 μm, DN-4 disperses more uniformly than standard AC powders, with particle size approximately one-fifth that of conventional grades. This eliminates agglomerates and ensures consistent cell nucleation across the entire product, resulting in foam structures with exceptional uniformity and surface quality.
2. High Gas Volume for Maximum Density Reduction:
With 215–220 L/kg gas yield, DN-4 achieves significant weight reduction of 20-40% depending on dosage and processing conditions, enabling lightweight products without sacrificing structural integrity or mechanical performance.
3. Consistent Decomposition Behavior:
The high purity (99%) and controlled ultra-fine particle size guarantee predictable, reproducible decomposition kinetics, allowing precise control over foam structure and processing parameters across different production runs and equipment types.
4. Broad Polymer Compatibility:
DN-4 is suitable for a wide range of polymers including rigid and flexible PVC, EVA, polyethylene, polypropylene, and various copolymers, making it a versatile choice for diverse foaming applications from footwear to construction materials.
5. Excellent Surface Finish:
The ultra-fine particles and clean decomposition profile minimize surface defects, resulting in smoother, more aesthetically pleasing products with improved paint adhesion and printability.
6. Reduced Plate-Out and Die Buildup:
High purity and complete decomposition mean minimal residue accumulation on processing equipment, enabling longer production runs, reduced maintenance downtime, and consistently high product quality.

1. PVC Foam Products:
DN-4 is widely used in PVC foam boards, profiles, sheets, and pipes to achieve fine, uniform cell structures and consistent density reduction. It is particularly valuable in applications requiring smooth surfaces for painting, lamination, or direct visual appeal.
2. EVA Foam Applications:
In EVA foam for footwear midsoles, sports equipment, mats, and packaging materials, DN-4 delivers soft, resilient foam with excellent surface finish and uniform cell structure that enhances comfort and durability.
3. Cross-linked Polyolefin Foams:
The ultra-fine particles make DN-4 ideal for cross-linked polyethylene and polypropylene foams requiring fine cells, high expansion ratios, and superior surface quality for automotive, packaging, and insulation applications.
4. High-Precision Foam Molding:
For injection molded or compression molded foam parts where cell size control and surface appearance are critical, such as technical components and consumer goods, DN-4 provides the consistency needed for high-quality results.
5. Synthetic Leather and Coated Fabrics:
In PVC and PU synthetic leather applications, DN-4 enables fine, uniform foam layers that provide softness and flexibility while maintaining durability and appearance.
6. Wire and Cable Insulation:
For foamed insulation layers in wire and cable applications, DN-4 contributes to weight reduction and improved dielectric properties while maintaining the mechanical integrity required for electrical performance.
